Apparently, cops in Brazil take crime seriously...maybe too seriously? While out for a ride with the owner's friend, a horse got startled and kicked a nearby car. The car's owner called the police and they arrested the horse. That's right, arrested.
The animal was locked in an actual prison cell for just about 24 hours to calm down the car owner, who wanted the horse's owner to pay for damages. "When I arrived at the station, I found my horse was locked in a jail cell as if it was a common criminal," owner William dos Santossays. "On top of this my pet had not been given any food or water and couldn't move around in the tight space."
It's unclear if this is a department-wide rule, but dos Santos reported the incident and now animal services is investigating.
