Dawn Muhammad from Atlanta embarked on a secret 16-month life transformation, but it wasn’t just for the sake of weight-loss. When she learned that her father was diagnosed with Stage Four kidney failure, she knew she had to do something about it… turns out her efforts aren’t in vain.
Muhammad’s dad Lucious Daniels is in need of a life-saving kidney transplant. Luckily for him, his daughter found out her blood type makes her eligible as a donor. The only obstacle? Her BMI – or body mass index. So, she hired a personal trainer and worked for over a year to ultimately lose a whopping 55 pounds.
Finally, Muhammad got the call confirming that she’s a perfect match to donate her kidney. That’s when she revealed her secret and broke the good news to her family. “When it finally sunk in and I finally stopped crying all I could do is give her a hug and all the other family members were there and we hugged and thanked God for his blessings,” says Daniels. The two are scheduled to go into surgery on August 31st.
