Pilot Delivers Pizzas To Stranded Passengers

When an American Airlines flight was stranded because of bad weather, the pilot knew what would please the crowd of passengers: pizza. A plane headed from Los Angeles to Dallas-Fort Worth was rerouted to Wichita Falls because of thunderstorms, leaving 159 people stuck until the next day, but the plane’s captain ordered Papa John’s to help make it up to them.

Captain Jeff Raines even delivered the pies to passengers lined up and waiting on the airport’s curb. A Twitter video shows his act of kindness and bystanders can be heard thanking him and complimenting him for the kind gesture. But Raines was quick to thank his whole crew for pitching in and making arrangements to accommodate the change in plans for the crew and passengers.

“We are always proud of our crew members who take great care of our customers who fly on American AIrlines,” explains airline spokesman Tom Henderson, “and are fortunate that they are the best in the business.”
