We heard from Blanca who is a student at Collegiate High School here in Corpus Christi. Her group is looking for some assistance to attend a conference in Dallas.  Here's some of what she wrote us:

"Every year the Collegiate Civic Minded Students (CCMS) host the Establishing Partnerships In Communities or EPIC Conference.  After unprecedented collaboration between the West Oso High School (WOHS) and the Collegiate High School (CHS) Optimist Clubs at the Harbor Lights Festival, the need for a new program was identified:  Learning Through Leaders (LTL). Our Goal is to promote college and career readiness by allowing students (freshman and seniors) who are uncertain about their future career paths to come together to support their proposed occupations with research.

My group and I along with another group called HERO are hoping to go to Dallas to participate and present our community service projects to the Annette Strauss Institute (ASI), but sadly to say need financial assistance. The two groups going are both senior groups. Every year we compete in ASI via Skype but we thought since we’re seniors wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to go over there to compete? It’ll be after our graduation but we’re still all determined to go."
