The Buccaneer Commission is excited to announce the Sunrise Stampede presented by ArcelorMittal, a new and free community event ahead of the 2026 Buc Days celebration. The Sunrise Stampede will take place April 18th at Fifth & Elm in Portland and will bring together the Buc Days 5K, the Driscoll Children’s Parade, and a morning of free activities for the community.
For 2026, both the Buc Days 5K and Driscoll Children’s Parade are moving from their traditional routes along Shoreline Boulevard to new routes in Portland. The Buc Days 5K will begin at 9 AM at Fifth & Elm, turn around at Sunset Lake Park, and finish back at Fifth & Elm. The Driscoll Children’s Parade will start at 10 AM at Gregory-Portland Middle School, proceed down Wildcat Dr and end at Fifth & Elm. Awards for the 5K and Children’s Parade will follow at the venue. This move reflects Buc Days’ role as a regional event serving communities across the Coastal Bend and helps bring the celebration beyond Corpus Christi.
Guests can look forward to an exciting morning at Fifth & Elm filled with entertainment and activities for all ages, including a cowboy breakfast, live music, games, face painting, cornhole, roping dummies all for free, and more still to be announced. Community partners will also be on site with activations and giveaways for attendees to enjoy. Fifth & Elm will be open to everyone, not just participants, giving families, friends, and the community a place to come together and enjoy the celebration.
Buc Days takes place April 30th through May 10th, bringing the community together for eleven days of rodeo action, carnival rides, competitions, and live entertainment.
