Elle King reunited with her former fiancé and then father of her son, Dan Tooker.
King confirmed to PEOPLE on Wednesday (September 18) that “we’re back together,” and “we’re starting fresh.” King seemingly confirmed the split when she performed at Stagecoach in 2023 wearing a jacket with the word “single” written on the back. They’d been together since 2019. Now, King and Tooker are living in the new house they bought together in Nashville, Tennessee.
"He's definitely brought me and his dad back together just because, what are we doing?" King told PEOPLE, referencing the couple’s young son, Lucky Levi, now 3. "We have everything that both of us have ever wanted right here. Let's put our weapons down. Come on. This is it. This is life. It doesn't get better than this. This is worth trying. This is worth wiping a slate clean. This is worth all the effort in the world. My family, this is what deserves all the energy and effort. …It's happy, it's beautiful. I'm very happy, I'm very content, which is nice, and I don't know if I've ever really felt that, so it's a blessing."
King’s son was born in September 2021. She said in a heartfelt announcement at that time: “Very proud to announce the birth of our son, Lucky Levi Tooker. On Wednesday, September 1st at 12:06 pm, we welcomed 8 lbs 1 oz of absolute joy and love earthside. We are all healthy and feeling so blessed! Welcome to the world Lucky!”
King said when she released her latest full-length album, Come Get Your Wife, that Lucky “is the reason I have evolved into the person I am now.” Most recently, King released “Baby Daddy’s Weekend,” and will release her new song, “High Road,” on Friday (September 20).
