Maddie Font opened up about undergoing an emergency C-section and how motherhood has “made me ruthless.”

The Maddie & Tae artist and her husband, Jonah Font, welcomed Baby No. 1 last year. Font’s son, Forrest Henry, recently celebrated his first birthday. He was born at 4:03 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, weighing 7 lbs and 10 oz. When Font announced her son’s arrival last year, she said “after 37 hard hours of labor, finally getting to push, and ending up having an emergency c section and being put under, Forrest Henry Font made his debut,” and thanked “our incredible medical team” for their help.

“Forrest is everything Jonah and I could’ve ever dreamed of, and we’d go through it all over again for him,” she added. “Thank you Lord for the gift of this perfect boy and this magical time. We are so in love 🤍"

“It was rough. And then the epidural wore off, so I felt it and they had to put me under. It was the most out of body pain. Literally, my pain tolerance, there’s nothing that can hurt me anymore,” Font said when she and her duo partner, Taylor Kerr, appeared on a recent episode of Get Real with Caroline Hobby (warning: language). “That’s that ruthless mom thing, where I’m like, I’ve been cut open. But yeah, they had to put me under because…my epidural wasn’t taking and then…And then my husband was like, ‘you psycho, I know you’re not telling them that you can feel this because you don’t wanna not meet your baby,’ because I knew they were gonna put me under.”

Font also said during the podcast conversation with host Caroline Hobby that “motherhood has made me ruthless. Like, I will cut a b**** so fast. If you are killing my vibe or adding negativity or poison, I don’t care if we’re blood related. I will cut you out.”

Maddie & Tae are looking ahead to tour dates on the horizon after releasing their new 6-track EP, What A Woman Can Do. Kerr will be on tour as she gets ready to welcome Baby No. 2 with husband Josh Kerr. The couple welcomed their firstborn child, daughter Leighton Grace Kerr, in January 2022. They announced in June that “baby BOY joining us this fall and we couldn’t be more excited 🥹💙”
