Taylor Swift Started Her Career Writing This Card to ME!

Taylor Swift is here in the DMV this week playing at Fedex Field with her 'Reputation Stadium Tour". I'm doing my best to be father of the year, taking my daughter to see her favorite.

Six years ago , my oldest daughter had the thrill of her life meeting Taylor and now her baby sister who's now 12 is getting the same opportunity. It's one perk that comes with my job that I just have to take advantage of. It doesn't happen often because, well. 12 year olds are very picky about who they fan girl over but Taylor Swift has managed to be 'The One' for the past decade. Somehow, I bet I won't be the only parent at T's show enjoying watching my kids as much as the show on stage!

I CLEARLY remember the day I met Taylor. It was September 19th, 2005. The reason I remember it so vividly is because she happened to be visiting me in the radio studio on the day I was interviewing Trisha Yearwood and it happened to be Trisha's birthday!

When I told told Taylor that Ms. Yearwood,( as Garth respectfully calls her), would be calling in, Taylor told me she'd be honored to sing 'Happy Birthday' to her idol live on the radio for Trisha who was on the phone!  Haha. The things I remember. Well, the moment wasn't lost on Taylor either. She wrote me a card a few days later to say thanks and to say how exciting that opportunity was for her too.

Taylor sent me her first publicity photo too so that I'd remember our first conversation about the Country music business!

She's never failed to reach out and take a picture with my kids. My daughter Steph didn't want to leave after meeting Taylor. LOL.

I admit she's had the same affect on me too!
