Strangers Give Bride Early Wedding

Alyssa Kamm and her husband Michael were planning to get married in 2018, but when her father was diagnosed with cancer three weeks ago, the bride moved the wedding up so her dad could walk her down the aisle. And the ceremony and reception all came together because of the generosity of strangers, who made it happen for the Rochester, New York resident and her family.

Kamm’s dad, Karl Jones was diagnosed with multiple myeloma -- a cancer of the plasma cells. And he’s getting chemo now, and hopefully will be fine, but she wanted to rush the wedding to make sure her dad was there to celebrate. So when her sister-in-law posted the family’s story on a Facebook bridal forum, offers started coming in. Around 20 businesses donated their services for free for the February 4 wedding.

"It was more than I could've ever asked for," the happy bride says of her nuptials. "My dad's always been a superhero to me, invincible. I'm such a daddy's girl, so to imagine not having him with me, there to walk me down the aisle, was the worst thought.” And father and daughter say there are “no words” to express their gratitude for everyone that made the wedding possible.”
