Yes, it's true. Before today, I had never been to Chick-fil-A. I'd see the long lines and think to myself, "meh, keep moving."
So why did I finally decide to give it a try? Well, let's go back to Monday of this week. One of our sales people over here at the radio ranch owed me a favor, and decided to buy me breakfast. She listed off a few restaurants, one of which was Chick-fil-A. I said I had never eaten Chick-fil-A, to which she responded, "yeah, a lot of people don't really go there for breakfast." Then I had to explain that, no, it wasn't just breakfast I hadn't eaten, but I had not eaten it ever.
This was basically the reaction I got:
So it was settled, my breakfast on Tuesday would come from Chick-fil-A. A simple chicken biscuit meal.
Gotta say, for just being a piece of chicken between a biscuit, I was impressed. Throw a little honey on there, and we're in business! Heck, I even put honey on the little hash browns. Still, I'm told that I NEEEEEED to try it for lunch sometime.
Cut to 11:50a today. I'm trying to decide what to eat for lunch. I start driving on SPID and think to myself, "why not give Chick-fil-A a chance?"
I drive myself to the newest location in Corpus, at the Shops at La Palmera [no way am I gonna attempt the SPID and Everhart location, I barely like it when I have to take that exit when it's not lunch hour traffic]. I drive up, see the long line, but I have time to burn.
Now, the thought in my head when I was driving up was that I would just get to the drive-thru speaker, take a peak at the menu, and pick something out. However, I was not prepared to have an actual person just walk up to my window and take my order. I had to confess to this young lady (her name is Jennifer) that I had never actually been to the restaurant before and don't know the menu.
Jennifer jokingly throws her hands in the air and exclaims, "I can't even talk to you right now." She gets on her headset and requests a menu be brought out to her, but I stop her and ask her to simply make some recommendations.
"What are some of the most popular items?"
Jennifer lists a few things off to me, and I decide to go with a Spicy Deluxe. She takes it upon herself to add some nuggets to my order, on the house! And since I'm not familiar with any of the sauces, she just adds them all. I drive forward and have my food a couple minutes later.
I wanna have my food while it's fresh. Instead of speeding all the way back to the radio station, I find an empty parking spot at the Shops at La Palmera, and proceed to chow down, while documenting some of the experience on my Snapchat.
