Daniel Day-Lewis Is Done With Acting

Can it be? Has one of the best actors of our time retired? Yes. According to his rep, Daniel Day-Lewis won't be acting anymore.

“He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years," his rep shares. "This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject. ”

While this is the first time the idea of Day-Lewis retiring has been stated so bluntly, it appeared he had retired after 1997's "The Boxer. That was, until Martin Scorsese convinced him to star in "Gangs of New York" in 2002.

Retired or not, Day-Lewis, who has won the Best Actor Oscar three times, has always been very selective. In the past 15 years, he's only appeared in five movies. What looks to be his last movie, "The Phantom Thread," is slated to hit theaters at the end of the year.
