Ice Cream So Spicy You Have To Sign A Disclaimer

A café is serving an ice cream that’s so spicy you need to sign a disclaimer before eating it. The Aldwych Café in Glasgow has released an ice cream flavor “Respiro Del Diavlo,” which mean Breath of the Devil. The ice cream is so spicy, you must be 18 years of age or older and sign a legal waiver before trying it.

On the Scoville scale, the handmade dessert comes in at 1,569,300 SHU. That’s 500 times hotter than Tabasco sauce. The idea comes from a tradition in Italy. Italian ice cream makers would meet at the Devils Bridge once a year to discuss how the year went. If there were any brave men they would eat this ice cream. Café owner Martin Bandoniattended the meeting earlier this year and brought back the idea.

“Respiro del Diavlo” is available for a limited time. You can only get the ice cream until a little after Valentine’s Day for a very clever reason. Martin’s brother Lee says “a lot of Italian guys go and have a romantic evening with their girlfriends or wives.” He adds, “They will have some of this ice cream because it is a well-known fact that chili is an aphrodisiac.” He suggests pairing it with “a nice glass of wine."
