Best-selling author James Patterson is making good on his commitment to donate money to classroom libraries. This is the fourth year of his “Patterson Pledge” campaign and he says he’ll give $2 million this year.
Grants of $500 are being distributed to 4,000 teachers around the country and that’s being matched by 500 “Bonus Points” from Scholastic Book Clubs. Since the novelist started the “Patterson Pledge” in 2015, he’s given away over $7 million to pre-K through 12th grade teachers and has donated millions to literacy programs and independent booksellers.
Patterson says he’s “thrilled” to help teachers with their “extraordinary efforts” to get kids reading.Source: Washington Post
