The New York Police Department recently led a worldwide search for a mystery tourist couple who had lost an engagement ring in a grate in New York City. In a video posted to Twitter, a man can be seen trying to propose to his sweetheart… but it looks like he was a little too eager, since he ended up accidentally dropping the ring into the grate.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the NYPD revealed they had recovered the ring, asking the Internet to help them find the couple so they can return it. The post garnered a lot of attention online, which was a good thing because the couple ended up catching wind of the story… and getting their happy ending.
Yesterday, the NYPD posted an update on Twitter, thanking everyone for sharing the proposal mishap story. “The (now) happy couple is back in their home country, but thanks to your retweets they heard we were looking for them,” the tweet reads. “We’re making arrangements to get them their ring back.” Check out the tweets below.
