An 11-Year-Old Boy Saves Grown Man From Drowning

While swimming at his family’s apartment complex in Minnesota, 11-year-old Advaik Nandikotkur realized a grown man was unresponsive in the deep end. The boy was at the indoor pool with his uncle and mother, but he’s the only one who knew how to swim, so he saved the unconscious 34-year-old stranger.

Eagan police are calling the kid’s life saving efforts “amazing” and say 70-pound Advaik jumped in, swam to the bottom to grab the man, who weighs about 170-pounds, then pulled him to the surface. Once he got the man to the edge of the pool, his uncle and other grown-ups did CPR on the unnamed man. He regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital to be checked out and is said to be “doing just fine” now.

“I have never seen anything like this,” Eagan Police Officer Aaron Machtemes explains. “He just jumped into action and jumped in and saved a guy who was drowning. And literally saved his life.”
