Morgan Wallen Reveals Release Date Of Emotional Ballad He Wrote For His Son

Morgan Wallen announced the release date of the deeply vulnerable ballad he wrote for his son.

Wallen shared on his Instagram story on Monday (May 5) that “Superman” will make its debut at the end of the week. It’s one of the final songs to arrive before he delivers his highly-anticipated, 37-track studio record, I’m The Problem. Wallen said on his Instagram story: “It’s special to me for obvious reasons. I wanted it to have its own moment, and hopefully that’s what this will accomplish.”

The reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year previously shared a sneak peek of the song he wrote as a tribute to his son, Indigo Wilder, 4, whom he shares with ex-fiancée KT Smith. Wallen said at that time that he’s “been trying for a long time to write a song I loved to my son. None of them ever feel good enough because of how perfect I want something like this to be. And not saying this is perfect, but I am very proud of it. Here is a clip, It’s called ‘Superman.’” The lyrics reference Wallen’s mugshot, past relationship and more, and expresses Wallen’s hope that when Indigo Wilder grows up, he won’t think less of his father.

Wallen co-wrote 22 of the 37 tracks appearing on his fourth studio record. I’m The Problem includes collaborations with pop star Tate McRae — Wallen’s first-ever female duet partner — Erich Church, HARDY, ERNEST and Post Malone. Wallen has also released the title track, “Just In Case,” “Love Somebody,” “Smile,” “Lies Lies Lies” and “I’m A Little Crazy” ahead of the record’s release. I’m The Problem is set to arrive on May 16, the first day of Wallen’s sold out, three-day Sand In My Boots Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Wallen will headline the event with Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn and HARDY. After that, he’s hitting the road on his “I’m The Problem Tour” with a rotating lineup that includes Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel as direct support, and Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson on select dates.
