A little haze, a lot of smoke — and what to do about it

You've probably noticed the sky looking a little off. It's a mix of humidity and smoke drifting up from eastern Mexico, carried in on southerly Gulf winds. A cold front this weekend should shift things around — but until then, if you're over 65, under 18, or managing heart, lung, or diabetes issues, take it easy outdoors. Keep an eye on how you're feeling. For real-time air quality info, go to AirNow.gov.

Adopt a pet for $70 or less — right here in Corpus

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services is part of a nationwide Empty the Shelters event running now through May 17th. Adoption fees are $70 or less for cats and dogs — and every pet comes already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. They're at 2626 Holly Road, open Monday through Saturday, noon to 5:30.
