Six Years After His Heart Attack, Terry Schade's Message Could Save Your Life

Reverse Alert: How the New Regional Alert System Could Save Your Life

In an emergency, seconds matter. The San Patricio County Emergency Management Coordinator and Fire Marshall, Chief Scott Marion, joins us to explain the game-changing Reverse Alert Notification System that's transforming how coastal bend residents receive life-saving emergency information.

Why the Change from Code Red: Chief Marion breaks down why San Patricio County, along with Aransas and Refugio counties, transitioned from Code Red system to the new Reverse Alert platform in September 2025. The old system had significant limitations that left gaps in regional emergency response coordination.

The Regional Advantage: The biggest breakthrough? Alerts that cross county lines. This matters more than you might think. When a refinery incident occurs, chemical plumes don't stop at county borders. When severe weather sweeps through the region, communities need coordinated information, not fragmented messages from four separate systems.

What You Need to Know: We walk through how to register at www.reversealert.org and customize exactly what alerts you want to receive and how you want to receive them: whether that's text, email, or phone calls. You can opt in for your specific county and city, or receive alerts from all four counties depending on where you work, live, and travel.

Real-World Scenarios: Chief Marion discusses the types of emergencies this system addresses: refinery flaring, severe weather events, road closures, natural disasters, and other time-sensitive community safety situations. The system provides instant notifications directly from local officials when every second counts.

Seamless, Unified Protection: Previously, each of the four counties managed their own independent emergency alert systems, creating confusion and communication gaps. The Regional Reverse Alert System consolidates everything into one platform, ensuring consistent messaging and broader coverage across the entire coastal bend region.

Enhanced Functionality: Beyond just crossing county lines, the new system offers upgraded features and more reliable delivery methods compared to the legacy Code Red platform. Chief Marion explains how this technology represents a significant leap forward in emergency management capabilities.

Taking Action: The system only works if you're registered. We discuss the importance of taking five minutes to sign up at reversealert.org—because in an emergency, you can't rely on word-of-mouth or stumbling across information on social media. Direct alerts from emergency management officials could be the difference between safety and danger.

Whether you commute across county lines for work, have family spread across the region, or simply want comprehensive emergency information for the coastal bend, this conversation explains why the new Reverse Alert system is essential for every resident.

Register today at www.reversealert.org and ensure you're connected when it matters most.

Dustin Lynch Club Set After CC Hooks Game

Dustin Lynch Brings the Club Show Experience to Corpus Christi
Multi-platinum country star Dustin Lynch sits down with Big Frank ahead of his special postgame concert Thursday night at Whataburger Field, presented by Thomas J. Henry Law. This isn't your typical stadium show—Lynch discusses his unique "Club Show" format and what makes these intimate performances different from his larger arena tours.

The Grand Ole Opry Member's Journey: Lynch, who was inducted into the legendary Grand Ole Opry in 2019, opens up about his career trajectory from his debut hit "Cowboys and Angels"—which earned him two Academy of Country Music awards—to his impressive collection of nine No. 1 singles including "Thinking 'Bout You," "Good Girl," and "Ridin' Roads."

Club Set: We dive deep into Lynch's club set concept. He explains the creative freedom these smaller shows provide and how the energy differs when you're connecting with fans in a different setting.

The Whataburger Field Experience: Lynch shares his excitement about performing at the unique baseball stadium venue, combining America's pastime with country music. The postgame concert format creates a distinctive experience—fans can catch the Corpus Christi Hooks take on the Wichita Wind Surge at 6:35 PM, then stay for Lynch's performance followed by fireworks.

Supporting First Responders: Thursday's show also serves as First Responders Night, presented by LyondellBasell, with 2,000 fans receiving commemorative jerseys.

Behind the Hits: From breakthrough moments to chart-toppers, Lynch reflects on the songs that defined his career and the stories behind them. He shares insights into his songwriting process and how his sound has evolved since those early days of "Cowboys and Angels."

Whether you're planning to attend Thursday's unique ballpark concert experience or just want to hear from one of country music's most consistent hitmakers, this conversation captures Lynch's passion for connecting with fans in every setting.

Gates open at 5:05 PM Thursday at Whataburger Field for what promises to be an unforgettable combination of baseball, country music, and fireworks under the South Texas sky.

Cowboys Shocker, Cracker Barrel Revolt & Gmail Passwords Are Like High School Relationships

BigFrankShow2GO: "Cowboys Trade Shocker, Cracker Barrel Logo Revolt & Why Gmail Passwords Are Like High School Relationships"
Friday, August 29, 2025 - Labor Day Weekend Edition - Available on iHeartRadio

Labor Day Weekend is officially here! It's National Lemon Juice Day, we're 63 days from Halloween, and on this date in 1966, The Beatles played their final concert. Plus, Friday Night Lights kicks off across Texas tonight with a new twist—officials can now remove disruptive spectators without warning, so keep it classy.

NFL Bombshell: The Dallas Cowboys just dropped a massive trade bomb, sending Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round draft picks. This is a franchise-altering move that's got football fans buzzing heading into the weekend.

Cracker Barrel's Logo Disaster: The restaurant chain tried to mess with tradition by ditching their iconic "Old Timer" logo for plain text, and customers revolted so hard that even President Trump chimed in. Stock prices tanked, and within a week they announced they're bringing the Old Timer back. As I said on-air: Cracker Barrel could use a smiley face emoji for a logo and I'd still pull off SPID for that hashbrown casserole.

Local Weekend Highlights: The Corpus Christi IceRays are hosting a Select-A-Seat Open House tomorrow from 11-2 at the American Bank Center with their Red vs. Black scrimmage, player meet-and-greets, and the new Kids Zone. My hometown of Tilden is celebrating the 75th Annual Lions Club Rodeo with free admission all weekend, plus Kevin Fowler and Moe Bandy performing at Saturday's dance.

Community Events: Heroes Weekend at Hurricane Alley offers free admission for first responders, veterans, and active military. Rockport features Biplanes and Breakfast at the airport supporting aviation scholarships, while Bay Area Brewing hosts Jimmy Buffett Day as a flood relief fundraiser for Hill Country families.

Traffic Safety Alert: Starting Tuesday, the US 59/FM 624 intersection in Live Oak County becomes an all-way stop. Law enforcement will be monitoring as drivers adjust to the new traffic pattern designed to reduce crashes.

Hero Story of the Week: In Alabama, referee Joey Shelnutt collapsed during a high school football game, but his best friend and fellow referee Lew Murphy immediately performed CPR on the field, saving his life. Joey had three major heart blockages and is scheduled for bypass surgery, but he's alive today because his friend of 40 years was there when it mattered most. Sometimes the hero isn't scoring touchdowns—it's the guy in stripes.

Tech Warning: Google is urging all 2.5 billion Gmail users to change passwords after hackers used fake sign-in pages. Time to retire that password that's just your dog's name plus "123." Nothing makes you feel more exposed than changing a password, especially when you forget your own "secure" creation a week later.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: You know, I can’t help but get a little fired up today. It’s the first real Friday Night Lights of the season here in Texas. A few games kicked off last night, but tonight…tonight is when it really feels like football season has arrived. For me, football isn’t just about the game itself—it’s about what happens around it. The whole town gathering, the marching band echoing through the stadium, the cheerleaders on the sideline, the families in the stands, and kids running around with footballs behind the bleachers. It’s about community. This year hits even closer to home, because our son is suiting up for 7th grade football. I couldn’t be more excited to watch him take the field. Those memories he’s making are the same ones for all the players, the cheerleaders, the band and they’ll carry those with them forever. So before we head into kickoff tonight, let’s celebrate what makes it all special.

This Saturday's Free Preview: The countdown is on for the Ice Rays Red vs. Black Game this Saturday at the American Bank Center. Puck drops at 11 a.m. with free admission—your chance to check out the new squad, explore the kids' zone, and secure tickets for opening weekend. It's the perfect introduction for families who've never experienced live hockey.

Opening Weekend Details: We dive into the September 19th and 20th opening weekend festivities, including the can't-miss $1 beer night on the 19th and the free tailgate party on the 20th. Joey explains how the team is working to make hockey more accessible and family-friendly than ever before.

Growing the Game in South Texas: For newer fans, Joey breaks down what the Ice Rays are all about—playing in the NAHL, a Tier II junior league focused on developing players for college hockey and beyond. We discuss the unique challenge of growing hockey in South Texas, where ice is something you put in your sweet tea, not something you skate on.

Family-First Approach: Joey shares insights into the new Kids Zone and the team's strategy for attracting first-time families to games. From making the experience approachable for hockey newcomers to creating an atmosphere where parents feel comfortable bringing kids, the Ice Rays are building something special in the Coastal Bend.

Merchandise and More: We also touch on the team's brand-new online store at ShopIceRays.com, featuring expanded merchandise options and new logo variations for fans to represent their team year-round.

The Voice Behind the Calls: As the play-by-play announcer, Joey gives us a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring the excitement of live hockey to radio listeners and how he helps translate the fast-paced action for audiences still learning the game.

This conversation captures the excitement building around Ice Rays hockey and provides everything you need to know to become part of the growing hockey community in South Texas. Whether you're a lifelong fan or have never seen a puck drop, this episode will get you ready for what promises to be an exciting season.

Desalination Delays, Pumpkin Spice Invasion & Texas Chooses Pecan

Desalination Delays, Pumpkin Spice Invasion & Texas Chooses Pecan Over Basic"
Monday, August 25, 2025 - Available on iHeartRadio

It's National Banana Split Day, giving you the perfect Monday ice cream excuse, and we're just 7 days from Labor Day marking summer's unofficial end. On this date in 1939, The Wizard of Oz was released nationally, and we're celebrating birthdays for JoDee Messina (55) and Billy Ray Cyrus (64).

Major Local Infrastructure News: The desalination vote has been delayed. Two critical agenda items for Corpus Christi's Inner Harbor Water Treatment Campus—our major desalination project—have been pushed from August 26th to September 2nd council meeting. One involves design contracts and costs, the other covers financial agreements with the Texas Water Development Board for low-interest loan funding. Staff say the delay gives council more time to review state regulator responses. This desalination project is huge for our long-term water strategy around affordability, reliability, and sustainability.

Big Renovations: The Ortiz Center at the Port is getting a $17 million facelift. Originally a cotton warehouse when the port opened, it's being refreshed top to bottom and will reopen to the public in January. Meanwhile, Kingsville breaks ground soon on their first new fire station in nearly 70 years—the last one was built in 1955. The new facility will house four emergency vehicles and dramatically cut response times, with completion expected by next September.

Pumpkin Spice vs Texas Taste: It's still summer but pumpkin spice is already invading. DoorDash reveals pumpkin spice isn't Texas's top fall flavor—we prefer pecan. Makes sense: pumpkin spice may be loud, but pecan's got soul. Creamer sales spike 1,400% every fall, but Texas stays true to our roots.

Hero Story: 16-year-old Joshua Gomes saved his entire family when his dad went into cardiac arrest while driving on a Massachusetts highway. Joshua jumped forward, safely stopped the car, and used CPR skills from health class to keep his father alive until paramedics arrived. His dad now has a pacemaker and doesn't remember the incident, but thanks to Joshua's quick thinking, a potential tragedy became a survival story.

Water Politics, Deer Smuggling & Why Kevin McCallister is Coming to Austin

BigFrankShow2GO Friday Afternoon Edition: "Water Politics, Deer Smuggling & Why Kevin McCallister is Coming to Austin"
Friday Afternoon, August 22, 2025 - Available on iHeartRadio

A deep dive into the week's biggest Texas stories, plus some surprising entertainment news and personal reflections on nearly three decades in radio.

The Water Crisis Continues: Corpus Christi Water COO Drew Molly announced his resignation this week, departing September 3rd for a Houston leadership position. This marks another significant chapter in our city's ongoing water challenges—from conservation efforts to boil notices to reservoir management. Rather than engaging in social media shouting matches, maybe it's time we step back and actually educate ourselves on these complex issues.

Texas Political Landscape: The Texas Senate is voting today on congressional redistricting plans designed to be more GOP-friendly, with State Senator Phil King warning it'll be a long day but ultimately up to voters to decide. Meanwhile, Dallas Congressman Colin Allred believes he can become the first Democrat to win statewide office in decades, citing internal polling showing he'd beat Ken Paxton by a narrow margin—though public polls tell a different story.

Billion-Dollar Scandal: Texas's white-tail deer hunting industry has been rocked by a massive illegal breeding investigation. Texas Parks and Wildlife made 14 arrests leading to 1,400 criminal charges after discovering ringleaders allegedly forged reports to smuggle animals around the state, circumventing disease testing and risking Chronic Wasting Disease outbreaks.

Transportation Dreams: The push for passenger rail along the I-35 corridor is gaining new life through a TxDOT working group examining why the Lone Star Rail District failed and how to fix it. Legislative funding attempts died on the House floor during the regular session.

Entertainment Coming to Austin: Mark your calendars for some nostalgic fun—Elizabeth Berkley brings "An Evening with Elizabeth Berkley" to the Paramount Theatre October 9th for Showgirls' 30th anniversary, with behind-the-scenes stories and personal memories. Tickets on sale Friday at 10am. Plus, Macaulay Culkin hits Bass Concert Hall November 29th for a 35th anniversary Home Alone screening—tickets Friday at 11am.

Personal Milestones: Celebrating my 9th wedding anniversary with my amazing wife Addie this  past week—3,285 days of love, laughter, and a marriage like fine wine that gets better with age and occasionally gives her a headache. Also reflecting on National Radio Day and the incredible honor of being inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame last year, sharing my acceptance speech audio from that special night.

Anniversary Gold, German Cart Racing & Why Your Home Decor is Ugly

Anniversary Gold, German Cart Racing & Why Your Home Decor is Apparently Ugly
Wednesday, August 20, 2025 - Available on iHeartRadio

It's National Bacon Lovers' Day, which explains why vegetarian friends are avoiding us with the same intensity we avoid exercise—their salads truly feel safe today! Plus, National Radio Day gives us a chance to celebrate nearly 29 years of me somehow surviving on-air in Corpus Christi since July 20, 1996.

Personal Milestone: Happy 9th Anniversary to my beautiful bride Addie! It's been 3,285 days of love, laughter, and figuring out why we own 14 different types of Yeti mugs. Our marriage is like fine wine—it gets better with age and occasionally gives her a headache. She's still my favorite person to argue over the TV remote with. Here's hoping the next nine years bring us a second remote!

Local Updates That Matter: TxDOT is hosting public hearings for the US 77 interstate upgrade proposal—today 4:30-6:30pm at Refugio County Expo Center, tomorrow same time at Woodsboro School Cafeteria. Tonight, catch the Hooks as the "Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits" taking on Frisco RoughRiders at 6:35pm, with special fundraising efforts for Ingram Little League's flood recovery through jersey auctions, 50/50 raffles, and boot collections and more at CCHooks.com.

Hockey Season Approaches: The Corpus Christi IceRays are making hockey more family-friendly this season! During home game weeks, adult Family Section tickets include a free kid's ticket, plus $5 student tickets available day-of-game with valid ID. Home opener is September 19th—details at GoIceRays.com.

Radio Reflections: Being inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame last year was an incredible honor, and somehow y'all are still tolerant of my voice after nearly three decades. Behind-the-scenes truth: the coffee here is terrible, but the job remains a blessing beyond measure.

Viral Video Madness: Interior designer Nicolas Fairford went viral on TikTok listing five "ugly" things you probably have in your home—most people think his list is ridiculous. Meanwhile, Germany has a TV competition where women push shopping carts toward targets for points, complete with dramatic commentary. Yes, this exists, and yes, it's as entertaining as it sounds.

Win Big: iHeartRadio Music Festival trip to Vegas plus $1000 tomorrow at 9am, 1pm & 5pm! Don't forget to nominate outstanding teachers for $5000 classroom funds at iHeartRadio.com/Teachers.

Whataburger Wins, Vegas BBQ Blasphemy & Why Gen X Still Prints Everything

BigFrankShow2GO Podcast: "Whataburger Wins, Vegas BBQ Blasphemy & Why Gen X Still Prints Everything
Monday, August 18, 2025 - Available on iHeartRadio

It's National Fajita Day, honoring the true heroes—the tortillas that hold it all together! Without them, we'd just be awkwardly eating veggies and meat with our hands and pretending it's totally normal. Plus, with 14 days until Labor Day, we're counting down to when everyone pretends they've always been passionate about not wearing white.

Win Big: iHeartRadio Music Festival trip to Vegas plus $1000 at 9am, 1pm & 5pm! Tonight's Powerball: $605 million!

Local Headlines That Matter: The City of Corpus Christi is looking at water-rate hikes tied to the Mary Rhodes Pipeline capacity boost—changes coming next year. We're also getting a new city logo featuring the new Harbor Bridge instead of the old one, unveiling at this week's city council meeting. Baseball fans, get excited: Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez starts his rehab assignment with the Hooks tomorrow as designated hitter after being out since May 3rd with a hand fracture.

Gen X Wisdom: Skip the motivational quotes today—instead, let's celebrate the truth about Gen X: we still print boarding passes because we survived "Microsoft Word has encountered an error" watching our term papers vanish at 1 AM. We learned technology will betray you at the worst possible moment, which is why we still hit 'Save' every three seconds like a nervous twitch.

Food Fight Results: The bros have spoken and Texas already knew it—Whataburger officially wins as America's best late-night fast food! BroBible ranked it #1 over In-N-Out, Steak 'n Shake, and Jack in the Box. Why? Bigger burgers, better taste, non-disappointing fries, spicy ketchup, and those glorious 2 AM taquitos. USA Today readers also voted Whataburger into the Top 10 best burgers nationally. Remember: nothing good happens after midnight... except Whataburger.

BBQ Blasphemy Alert: Here's news that might burn some brisket—Las Vegas was named America's #1 BBQ city with 107 top-rated spots, supposedly beating Franklin Barbecue in Austin.  Somewhere in Austin, a pitmaster just threw down his tongs in disgust.

America Goes Sober: Americans are putting the brakes on booze—only 54% drink alcohol now, the lowest in 90 years of Gallup polling. Every demographic is cutting back, with two-thirds of 18-34 year-olds thinking even moderate drinking is unhealthy. The next generation is more "Topo Chico and tacos" than "shots and karaoke." Don't worry—us narrow-minded Texans will still find ways to wash down brisket with something stronger than sweet tea.

The Good News: Two California plumbers saved a grandmother's life when she was attacked by a swarm of bees. They caught her before she hit the ground, used a fire extinguisher to drive away the bees, then lured the swarm into their van while enduring dozens of stings until help arrived. Quick thinking literally saved her life.
